This cookbook is not going to appeal to an average teen cook. The ingredients are extremely expensive and hard to find in the Midwest region of our country. I was looking for something a little more difficult than macaroni and cheese but certainly not lobster and beef tenderloin. I wouldn’t recommend this for a teen cook unless they’re training to be a professional chef. Parents-make sure you’ve got a healthy food budget because nearly every recipe requires expensive ingredients.
My eleven year old daughter loves to cook and enjoys watching foodTV. She is pretty skilled and unfortunately most of the kids cookbooks are really dumbed down (using boxed cake mixes and jars of jam) so they don't really "cook." On the same note a lot of mainstream cookbooks are obviously adult geared. This book is a fantastic compromise of taking real recipes and making them easy for a kid to read and follow. She made these fantastic pork chops the other day with a mustard sauce that I couldn't get enough of. There are some great veggie dishes as well, and as we have learned in our house - you have much better chance of your kid eating veggies if they are part of the creation process. Great book for a budding chef :)
This is a gorgeous looking cookbook but I should've listened to the other reviewers...my 8 year old daughter loves Masterchef but these recipes are WAY too difficult for her to make or even attempt on her own. These are really advanced!! And not "kid friendly" meals (a lot of seafood) But if you have a real, actual Masterchef in your house and/or you are willing to buy it and do them together then this is a great book.
Nice book but not a lot of practical recipes for the everyday kid
Tried our first recipe from this book tonight. We bought for our 8 year old daughter, but it's a great cookbook for those of us who are grown but not sure how to cook like a "chef."We made fish tacos with guacamole. (It has cabbage and pomegranate in it.. which is "weird" but somehow was super amazing.) Made it all from scratch and it was the best! Even our picky 4 year old ate them!This is something I would've never made on my own, and I'm so glad I tried it!Here's hoping all the recipes are just as great! Definitely recommend for all ages!!
Bought this for my daughter for her birthday. It uses recipes the kids make on the show. My 10 year old doesn't have any skills and seemed a little put off by the advanced recipes
The recipes are pretty complex, which I should have realized, it being master chef. I bought this for my daughter, who is 11 and loves the show, but I'm definitely going to have to be involved in these cooking sessions.
Bought this for my nephew that has mastered basic cooking techniques. He loves the cookbook because the recipes are more advance and are things he could serve to adults. If you’re looking for a basic kid’s cooking book, this isn’t it. This is perfect for a child that has aspirations of being a chef.
