About the Author
Jeffrey F. Beatty, J.D., was an exceptional teacher, having won both the Metcalfe Prize and Cup, Boston University's highest teaching award as well as the Charles Hewitt Award, which is given each year by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB) for excellence in teaching. The highest honor for teaching conferred by the ALSB, this award is dedicated to the communication and recognition of creative teaching practices of business law. Prior to his joining the faculty at Boston University, Professor Beatty worked for several years as a legal aid lawyer, concentrating on general civil litigation. He also practiced in a private firm, where he concentrated on general civil litigation, including trials and appeals of tort, contract, employment, and property cases. Professor Beatty wrote television scripts and plays that were performed in Boston, London, and Amsterdam.

Great introductory book on business law. The book begins with a very good basic introduction on the U.S. legal system and how it has evolved. This book is mainly on civil laws, statutes, and procedures. Whether you're a first year college student or an experienced professional, this book will still provide tremendous value. Written very clearly and precisely. Easy to understand and doesn't feel like a textbook (though it is quite thick). Many relevant and up-to-date cases in each chapter helps you pick up the material in half the time. Would recommend.
It's a nice book, not your typical textbook. I would say it is a nice introduction to the law for a small business or independent business owner/land lord. It gives a nice overview of topics you may want to research more and gives a nice pro/con discussion about the various reasons to incorporate your business. I think the test prep questions at the end of each chapter, especially the ethical ones unfortunately, are ridiculously and obviously unhelpful, but the content within each chapter is good. The book is well written, though there are a few sentences that I am surprised made it by the editors. Let's just say the author's biased opinion on some topics / behaviours / rules comes through in a rather clear and hilarious fashion at a few points in the text. A good resource to have on hand even if you only want to use it to look up a few things instead of reading it cover to cover. As a student, the best part was that this book could be rented - digitally!
The book is in bad shape but the price is good so not much I can complain about. Wish it was in better shape though.
The spinalcord of the book was falling off leaving the pages opening to falling off. Point is that It has to stay on my desk. If I move it or take it to school, the book will fall apart. I can handle pages looking weird or written on, but if the structure of the book is bad and pages are ready to fall out. That is not worth money. Not cool.

Excellent introduction to the world of law, and specifically business law. Interesting and enlightening, a page-turning read!
Text book, what else do you want?
The book is used and in a "used shape" I want that on the record so when I return it I am not hit with any fees for the condition it's "already" in.
