Space Team 2: The Wrath of Vajazzle is everything I wanted it to be and more. This time around the crew of the Shatner is trying to outrun a ruthless bounty hunter with quite possibly the funniest name any character I've ever read has had: Vajazzle. And yes, I did have to look the word up and was shocked to find it is a real thing (take Cal's word for what Vajazzling is...trust me). Anyway, Space Team 2 is a wild ride. The crew goes all over the galaxy and we glimpse many exotic locations and alien races that are both awesome and a little unsettling. But that's not why I loved this book as much as I did and even more so than the first Space Team. I loved it because we get a better understanding of the main characters, of who they are and why they act the way they do. This is especially true of Cal and Miz. It was touching to see a little of their backstory and it was handled well enough and mixed with enough action, plot, and humor that I was never bored or felt like the author was info-dumping. My only gripe is it needed more Splurt! But all in all, if you liked Space Team, you'll love Space Team 2. And I can't wait for book 3.*I received a free copy for a chance to leave an honest review.*

Space Team: The Wrath of Vajazzle is Barry J. Hutchison’s follow up to his fall 2016 book, Space Team. The guy has obviously hit on something good, because he’s already cranked out three books and a Holiday Special, so I guess you could just say that he cranked out four books, but whatever. Book four, which is actually book five, if you count the Holiday Special is due out in April. He has got to be making money off these things. All of them have received great ratings on Amazon and Goodreads, or maybe he just has a lot of free time on his hands. “Wow, that’s impressive. Was that the Force? That was totally the Force, wasn’t it? Join me. Together we can rule the galaxy as father and son.” The series follows the adventures of Cal Carver, the last surviving human in the galaxy, and his crew of misfit toys as they galavant around the cosmos, righting the wrongs of the universe, in the starship, Shatner. Just one look at their covers and it’s obvious that these books are about a team of people in space. I mean, it should be. The words “Space Team” take up the top quarter of each cover. It’s also equally obvious that these are not your average sci-fi books. Part science fiction adventure and part ridiculous comedy, the Space Team books have a Red Dwarf/Douglas Adams-esque feel to them. You get the feeling that the author didn’t take any of it serious when he was writing them. “Dude, you just punched an old woman right in the face.” Hutchison has assembled a diverse and colorful cast of characters that really work well together. Cal is the never serious type of guy that no employer wants dealing with the public. He is a Van Wilder type character that never shuts his mouth, especially when it would be appropriate to do so. Miz is the sarcastic wolf-girl who rebells against her parents and their way of life. Loren is the moderately attractive and competent pilot of the group. Think Mary Ann in space. Mech is multi-tool tin man of the group. Turn his dial one way and he is the smartest guy in the galaxy, but barely has enough strength to breath. Turn it the other way and he is a nearly mindless doomsday machine. Finally, rounding out the party is Splurt. He doesn’t say much. They truly are their own version of the Island of Misfit Toys. I only wish Hutchison would write in a cowboy who rides an ostrich. Oh well, I still two or three books to go, so I can only hope.“The plan is that we’re going to go find that ugly two-faced space witch and test out the torpedoes.” I rate Space Team: The Wrath of Vajazzle four out of five stars. While I didn’t find it as funny as the first book, it’s still a hilarious read. The overall plot was stronger and more developed, which is really what keeps me in a sci-fi series anyway. I still found myself asking, why am I reading this in the first place, but Hutchison kept me laughing and kept me reading.Â

pace Team: The Wrath of Vajazzle by Barry J. Hutchison is book two but can be read without having to have read book one first. It is a crazy, weird, bizarre, and fun book that must have been written while on drugs or the reader needs to be while reading! This is one of the strangest books I have read but somehow I liked it! What does that say about me? It had all kinds of crazy creatures, a goofy but loveable (sort of) human, equally not likable but likable companions on the ship, and a robot that is the strangest robot I have ever hear of. Their adventure is even stranger. Some of this book I smiled at, some I just groaned, other parts I smirked, and others I just shook my head. I did enjoy it. The narration was ok but forced I think to try to make it better but I think it was good on its own. I think the narration took something away. Not sure what would have been better but I don't think the narration fit all the way. It was just "ok". I was given the audio to listen/read and the review was voluntary. I enjoyed the book itself and probably would have enjoyed it more just reading it.

A continuation of the silly and ridiculousness of the first book. This is no high-brow satirical novel with themes of war and peace.Nah, it's stupidly funny and filled with things like a cyborg punching an old lady in the face (she totally deserved it in context) and a race of dog people that don't seem to understand that their tails give away their emotions. It's a snarky protagonist bumbling his way through an alien universe while chased by the bad guys. If that's your thing, I recommend this to you. Personally, I will continue the series.

Absolutely love this series of books! If you're a fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy then you'll LOVE these books. If you've never read those books, you'll still love this series as it is fun, entertaining, interesting, hilarious, thought-provoking, and so many more excellent adjectives that I can't list them all here! Actually laughed out loud many times while reading this series! There are very few series in which I read one book and immediately purchase and read the next - but this is definitely one of those series! I highly recommend this book and all the books in this series! Really fun to read!

Loving the series (I'm on book 4). The author has captured the feel of H2G2 with maybe a bit of Firefly thrown in for good measure. The characters arent over the top, the story moves along at a fine pace - it just works.I read each character in a different "voice" which makes it interesting by itself, so Cal would be Joseph Gilgun (think Preacher), Mech is Ron Perlman, Miz is Chole Grace Moritz and Loren is doing fine so far as Jenna Coleman.Strange cast, but so is the group in the book. All in all, I look foward to reading more by this author.
